Community Management- The New R&R Team

While the following changes have been approved by the development team, these changes are still under review for player input. Please post any comments or concerns you have about these changes in this thread. The Community Meeting will also be an available platform for discussion on this topic.

What is R&R?
For those of you who do not know, the R&R team used to be the available location for player reports in OMG mod. All different kinds of reports from exploit abuse to player behavior abuse could be reported here for official review from the team. However due to several indicators like despite player complaints there were very few actual reports in the mod, the general call for more dev team to player communication, and the gradual loss of the OMG player base has led to development wanting to take a new approach to R&R.

What is Community Management?
Community Management is not less about official reports and exploit management then R&R was. Community Management is what R&R used to be, with additional roles and new priorities. The Community Management team is apart of a larger effort of improving OMGmod outside of just game design and balance. While these parts of the mod are critical, the Community Management team will handle issues outside of balance to allow for the balance team to better focus on in game game play.

Here are a list of Community Management priorities:

-Take in player reports and settle player disputes
To this end Community Management will keep a focus of mediation above punishment. Ideally players will feel more comfortable reporting issues that could keep them from playing the mod in the future.
- Emphasize good behavior and sportsmanship
While punishment is a necessary tool of rules enforcement, the focus of this team will be looking for ways to spotlight players who never cause issues, treat others with respect, and who are a good addition to the mods atmosphere. A basic example of this already in action are the community reward units for players who the community appreciate.
- Identify and adjust structural issues in the mod that drive players away
The Community Management team will be holding semi-regular meetings to discuss where the mod is causing players to want to leave. To this end the Community Management team will be consistently looking for OMG’s problems that the development team may have previously neglected due to a lack of direct jurisdiction. I.E. the problem persisted not because development thought it was not an issue, but mainly due to the problem not being a priority for any team’s duties in the mod. This will additionally make the community management team a great place for players to give feedback about these issues.
- Create updated rules when necessary, discipline players breaking rules
As always, if you suspect a player of cheating, abusing exploits, or circumventing established OMG policy such as the multiple companies rule, than a report will be needed to address this player. These “hard” rule breaks will be reviewed by this team and players will be served a punishment that both fits the rule break, and the player situation. To this end it is invaluable that the Community Management team is knowledgeable with most if not all of the players in OMG.
